First of the Odd Animal Collection

This little guy is going to be part of our unusual animal collection. Pretty cute armadillo if I do say so myself, although I need work alittle on the middle ridges but pretty good for a prototype! I'm testing to see if I can have them coil up in a ball like a real armadillo, but not sure if I can get it to work and still look good.

Soooo much work has been done!

So, for the past few weeks we have done a lot of planning for the etsy and we started creating some stock. Rose intends to have around 10 items upon start-up. I am really excited about some of the prototypes, but I need to get around to writing down patterns for all the things we've made so that we can replicate them if/when we need to. Pattern writing is a skill that I am very lucky I have, because otherwise replication of these original designs would be torture, or impossible. Anyway, next week Rose is showing me how to screen print on fabric! She's going to sell some screen printing if they turn out very well. :D

Prototypes Update

Currently working on making test amigurumi/sewn doll types. Figuring out our brand's basic size and shapes for the basic people template, and the general look of our other creatures. We've decided to start out with 5 different toy types just at the beginning (to make sure we don't go to overboard) be expecting to see Snowmen + Gingerbread men, Pirates + Ninjas, Unusual animals (like armadillos, and narwhals), and a couple others.... We'll try to post some pictures soon!

I've already made a snowman, complete with mini top-hat and scarf but I haven't decided on how I should do the stick-like arms. And played around with making some food amigurumi, made a pretty nice looking fried egg. I'll post some pictures when I feel there more done

Just starting up!

(Hello, it's Brenna here, I called dibs on first post.) It is day one of our project! The plan is to make an etsy store front for Rose and in the process let me explore all kinds of art and crafts, but with business in mind. Learning what is time and cost effective, and learning what will sell, is key. Market research will need to happen, and finding a niche for our store to fill will be a goal to keep in mind for the future...

For now, we decided on a name for the store, "Beware the Cuteness". Then I spent a million hours setting up a blog on squarespace, only to find after I finished that you have to pay after 14 days! Stupid hidden fees... I rage quitted my blog project for an hour, to make coffee and food, and then I made this blog on good 'ol blogspot. But I wasted SO MUCH TIME on squarespace! ARGH!

So why are we doing this blog? Well, mostly because I go to Inglenook, which is a small alternative high school. It has this program every Wednesday called Outreach, where you go out into the community and do community service, personal enrichment, or career exploration. Mine is a mix of personal enrichment and career exploration, since I will be learning all sorts of art stuff which is personal enrichment and I will also be helping make a business in crafts, which I would like to make a career out of. My goal in life is to make a living from making crafts, which in my specific case would revolve around knitting and/or spinning yarn. Aaaanyway... this blog is to ensure that I am on task in my outreach, so my teachers can supervise me a little more since I have a special circumstance with my sister being a supervisor.

Hello Athina and other Inglenook staff members!
